Dear Future Generations: “SORRY”

“Dear future generations, I think I speak for the rest of us when I say…SORRY

So this video has been making the rounds on the internet since Earth Day, and it really does deserve to be viral.  Normally this kind of video may come off as cheesy or too artsy for the general public, but this particular performance has struck a chord with a lot of people.  Eloquently written and spoken with true conviction, we were moved so much after the initial viewing that it prompted us to replay it over and over.

This video really just reiterates what we already know, but have chosen to ignore.  We have ignored it for so long, that now the consequences of our inaction  are about to come crumbling down upon us.  Our collective greed and complacency has left our environment in ruins as we literally chop and burn down our air supply and replace it with toxic smog from fossil fuels.

Artist Price Ea (Richard Williams) delivers a heart-felt apology to future generations for the waste land that we are leaving them.  Our children will be faced with unbelievable challenges and natural disasters stemming from what we are referring to as economic progress.

If you enjoy breathing, as we assume you do, it is time to become part of the sollution instead of part of the problem.  Contribute to a cause that truly supports every living organism on this planet: STANDFORTREES.ORG.  No other cause will matter if none of us can breathe.

Here are a few of our favorite quotes from the video:

“We just didn’t realize how special the earth was…like a marriage gone wrong we didn’t know what we had until it was gone.”

“I’m sorry we put profit above people,  greed above need, the rule of gold above the golden rule.  I’m sorry we used nature as a credit card with no spending limit, over drafting animals to extinction, stealing your chance to ever see their uniqueness or become friends with them.”

“We had the nerve to call this destruction…progress”

“The thing about truth is…it can be denied, not avoided”

“To betray nature is to betray us. To save nature is to save us”
